Sam Kingston
Samantha Kingston is a very popular senior girl at Thomas Jefferson High School. She likes to hang out with her friends and go to parties. She is tall and has blonde hair and blue eyes. In the beginning of the story she was very stuck up, extremely mean to others, self-centered, flirtatious, and did not really care if she did bad deeds. As the story progressed she became more kind, able to see others pain, loving toward her family, and thankful for the life she once had. She also cared way too much about other people’s status in school and only talked to people on her “level”. Her and her friends made fun of the other kids and thought they were superior to everyone else. Sam is the main character, and got in a car accident with her friends and passed away. For some reason she spent the next 7 days replaying the day of her death. She learned a lot and changed the total mood of the story. She started as pretty mean person, but eventually by the days she lived through and changed deeply, she became a way better person.
Lindsey Edgecomb
Lindsey is Samantha Kingston’s best friend ever since 6th grade. Lindsey has always been a mean person, ever since her parents got divorced when she was in 4th grade. She also has issues with anorexia and obsessive drinking. She calls other people names and plays very vile pranks on other students. She is also very popular and feels like she has all the power over the student body. She comes off as very persistent and confident. Lindsey has long brown ,very skinny and kind of short. She enjoys going to parties and shopping with her friends as well. Throughout the story little secrets are learned about Lindsey little by little as the plot unfolds and her secrets have little things to do with other events. Since Lindsey is cruel to a lot of people, she has pushed some people over the edge. Sam finds out that the reason Juliet Sykes commits suicide is because of Sam’s so called, nice friend, Lindsey. She also has had a very rough life that no one really knew about. Sam finds out a lot about her friend, that she hid from her in her real life.
Kent McFuller
Kent Mcfuller is very important to the story. Ever since 3rd grade he has thought highly of Sam Kingston. She stood up for him when she was getting bullied, and considered her his hero. From that day he told himself he would be her hero. He is very kind and caring. He helps Sam out when she is upset, even though she has an attitude toward him. Kent is also very smart and tries very hard at school. He has long floppy brown hair, brown eyes, and wears sweaters and checkered sneakers a lot. Kent seems to always have a smile on his face and look for the best, even when times are hard. When Sam is mean to him he keeps on smiling and does not let it hurt him. As the story unfolds, Sam falls for him and his genuine attributes. He also helps her see the good in life, and all the hatred she has dished out to other people for so long.
